Samuel Gilbert graduated from the University of New Mexico with degrees in anthropology and American studies before starting his journalism career at a small newspaper in Ramallah, Palestine. Since returning to the United States in 2015, his work has been published by the Daily Beast, Al Jazeera, Vice, the Guardian, the Washington Post, and other publications.  He is currently based in New Mexico.
